About · Your first visit

Nothing happens until you agree.

Plan on about 90 minutes. Here's each step, so you know what's coming before you walk in.

Your first visit

What happens, step by step

STEP 01

Call us

Call (973) 808-4373 during office hours. We check your insurance on the same call and find a time that works.

STEP 02

Arrive and check in

Parking is free, right outside Building G. Suite 109 is on the ground floor, the first door on the left. Come 10 to 15 minutes early to fill in your forms at the front desk.

STEP 03

Sit down and talk first

Your visit starts with a conversation, not a chair tipped back. Dr. Oh asks what's bothering you and what you'd like to change.

STEP 04

Your exam, when you're ready

We take digital X-rays, and Dr. Oh checks your teeth and gums. The images go up on the screen, and he explains them in plain words. If you'd rather just talk the first time, the exam can wait.

STEP 05

Your cleaning

Your cleaning happens at the same visit. One of our hygienists does it with Gentle AIRFLOW® Cleaning, which lifts away the soft film on your teeth gently.

STEP 06

Decide together

You get the full picture: what's urgent and what can wait. Every treatment plan comes with a written estimate first, and we book only what you're ready for.

What to bring to your visit

  • A photo ID
  • Your insurance card, if you have dental insurance
  • A list of your medications
  • Recent X-rays or records from your last dentist, if you have them

For now, new-patient forms are filled in at our front desk, so please come 10 to 15 minutes early. We're setting up online forms and will add the link here when they're ready.

If you're nervous

  • Your first visit can be just a conversation. The exam can wait until you're ready.
  • You can stop at any time. Raise a hand and we stop.
  • Our comfort menu is free. Ask for noise-canceling headphones or a warm towel.
  • Dr. Oh offers nitrous oxide (“laughing gas”) in the office. It's billed like any other treatment and may be covered by insurance.
  • For deeper sedation, licensed dental anesthesiologists come to our office. We plan these visits ahead.

More on our Nervous Patients page.

How will I pay?

If you have insurance, we check your benefits before you come in and file the claim for you. We're in-network with PPO plans from Aetna, Cigna, and Delta Dental. See Insurance Questions for the details.

No insurance? The Sora Dental Savings Plan covers your preventive care for one monthly fee. For larger treatment, monthly payment plans through Cherry or CareCredit can spread the cost. You'll see a written estimate before any treatment starts.
